I am fortunate enough to be going to the above in March. Is anyone else from this site heading down here for it?

Can't get the time off, that and the fact it's on the other side of the planet.

Sounds good though, lucky you.

No interest in an atheist convention. What point would there be in it? Even if it were in my hometown, my atheism just isn't a big enough deal for me to spend money on a ticket and go hang out in a conference room full of strangers.

I had no interest either until I found out Dan Barker was going to be a keynote speaker, and it will give me an opportunity to meet face to face someone I have been interacting with for a few years now, via email. Personally I couldn't give a rats arse about the rest of the woohaa.

Dawkins, Grayling ( i have and have read, "Against all Gods") and NonStampCollector (from YouTube) make this a fine event. Seattle to Melbourne too un-doable though.
Surely it's not so much about proselytizing but i would hope it is a confirmation that there are millions of humans that consider reality a one-up on superstitious industries.

"The bigger we can make this convention, the stronger the signal it will send to Australia's religious and political institutions that atheism and secularism are forces to be reckoned with."

Wish I could go, but as it stands, I can't. Glad for you though, I hope you enjoy it!
